Footbag — better known to many as hacky sack — rewards skill, stamina, and creativity. Over the decades, players have pushed marks that landed in the Guinness footbag record books. Here are some of the standouts, and what makes them hard.
First Footbag Golf game
Not a “most” record, but a milestone: August 1982, Delta Park, Portland, Oregon. John Stalberger (co-inventor of the modern footbag) organised the first Footbag Golf round — move the bag through a course in as few kicks as possible, golf-style. It opened a lane for creative competition formats that still shape the sport.
Most consecutive Footbag Eclipses
On 16 September 2020 in Maizuru, Kyoto, Yoshihito Yamamoto (Japan) hit 30 consecutive Footbag Eclipses. An Eclipse circles the leg around the bag and reconnects without losing it — simple to describe, brutal to chain. Yamamoto chased the mark because he loved the trick and wanted a clean stress test of control.
Most consecutive kicks (solo)
Men: Ted Martin — 63,326 kicks in 8 h 50 min 42 s (14 June 1997, Lions Park, Mount Prospect, Illinois).
Women: Constance Constable — 24,713 kicks in 4 h 9 min 27 s (18 August 1997, Seaside, California).
Both are endurance-plus-focus statements as much as kick counts.
Most consecutive kicks (doubles)
Gary Lautt and Tricia George (USA) reached 132,011 unbroken kicks on 21 March 1998 in Chico, California. One partner’s error ends the attempt — stamina and shared timing both have to hold.

Greatest controlled distance
Derrick Fogle (USA) covered 5.0539 km (3.14 miles) in one hour on 15 December 2018 at Myron Partridge Track Stadium, Las Vegas — bag never touching the ground or anything but legs and feet. Cardio and precision for sixty straight minutes.
Oldest competitive footbag player
Ken Moller competed at the US Open Footbag Championships in Erie, Pennsylvania, on 10 June 2023 at 75 years and 331 days (Intermediate Freestyle Routine). Proof that the sport has no hard age ceiling.
Wrap-up
These records span solo grit, partner trust, trick density, and lifelong play. Whether you are chaining first stalls or chasing a personal mark, the stories say the same thing: dedication moves the ceiling.
